Obituary for Jean Hope Jennings

It is with great sadness that the family of Jean Hope Jennings, 89, of Back Centre, announces her passing on Friday, January 25, 2013 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born on Tancook Island, on February 16, 1923, Jean was the daughter of the late Lester and Abigail (Naugler) Covey.

Jean worked for the Federal Government, Kenneth Crouse Wholesalers and later for Lunenburg County Press and Print Company. She was a member of First South United Church, First South.

Upon her retirement, Jean devoted much of her time to gardening, needlepoint and reading. Her strength of character and kind heart will be fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughter, Heather (Brian) MacIntosh, Montreal; granddaughter Jill (Marco) Bozzi, great-grandson, Matteo and great-granddaughter, Arianna, Montreal.

She was predeceased by her husband, James Milton Jennings, brothers, Spurgeon, Gilbert and Lorraine.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Jean with her family during visitation on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and where the funeral service to celebrate Jean’s life will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Vivian Moores officiating. Interment will be in First South Cemetery, First South.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First South Cemetery, South Shore Palliative Care or to a charity of your choice.
