Obituary for Robert Sterling Norse

Robert Sterling Norse
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Sterling Norse, 70, of Halifax announces his passing on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the QE II Halifax Infirmary.

Born in Chester, he was a son of the late Roland and Edith (Aulenback) Norse.

Robert started his working career at Industrial Engineering for 19 years and then went to work at the Law Courts, Halifax in the Justice Department until his retirement.

A survivor of the Ideal Maternity Home in Chester, he was adopted by his parents, Roland and Edith Norse and supported by his “big sister”, Amy Vienneau. An avid outdoorsman, he spent many happy hours in his garden and enjoying family and friends at the cottage. Over the years he enjoyed bowling, the Montreal Canadians and a good game of golf and curling. Despite all of his illness, he remained positive and was always willing to brighten everyone’s day.

Robert is survived by his wife, Carolyn; daughters, Yvette (Michael MacDonald), White’s Lake; sons, Blair (Cheryl Gora), Williamswood; Marc (Tammy), Spryfield; grandchildren, Cassidy, Casey, Kaylee, Madison and Ryan; brothers, Kenneth (Heather) White; David (Marilyn) White and Greg White all of Thunder Bay and several nieces and nephews

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse, Rev. Robert Zinck officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the ALS Society or a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the staff of ArborStone Care, Northwood Care and the 8th Floor of the QEII Hospital for their compassion and care of Robert over the years. A special thanks for Bob Haley for always being there and to Intact Insurance Company for the donations raised for Robert.
