Obituary for Carolyn Elizabeth Norse (Hackett)

Carolyn Elizabeth Norse (Hackett)
It is with sadness the family of Carolyn Elizabeth Norse, 69, of Halifax, announces her passing on Thursday February 27, 2014 at the QE II Health Science Center, Halifax.

Born in Blue Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Jerome and Lucy (Tanner) Hackett.

Carolyn devoted her life to the care of others and started her career as a nurse’s aide at the Grace Hospital, Halifax. She continued to demonstrate this generous and caring nature while caring for children in her own home as well as her husband for nine years during his illness. Carolyn treasured time spent with her family, especially at the cottage where everyone benefited from her talents for cooking and baking which was just one of the many ways in which she demonstrated her love and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her daughter, Yvette (Michael) MacDonald, White’s Lake; sons, Blair (Cheryl Gora); Williamswood; Marc (Tammy), Spryfield; grandchildren, Cassidy, Casey, Kaylee, Madison and Ryan; brother, Jerry (Juliette), Fall River; sisters-in-law, Bev Hackett, Lunenburg; Erma Hackett, Bridgewater and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by her husband, Robert and brothers, Lewis and Glen.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate Carolyn’s life will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014 at 1:00 pm
Rev. Willis Ott. Interment will be held at a later date in Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Garden of Rest Cemetery, Blockhouse.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bay Shore Home Care and Northwood VON for the care given to our Mom.
