Obituary for Florence Virginia Eisenhauer

It is with great sadness that the family of Florence Virginia Eisenhauer, 94, of Upper LaHave, announces her passing on Sunday July 12, 2015. She passed away at home with her family around her.

Born in Rose Bay, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Florence (Zinck) Conrad.

Married to her husband Bruce on December 27, 1939 and with Bruce’s career as an Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, they travelled and lived in various places in Canada. After retirement, in 1968 they moved back to Lunenburg County to reside in Upper LaHave.

A faithful member of Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, she sang in the church choir for many years and was a great supporter of the church.

Active within her community, she enjoyed square dancing, sang with the Sweet Adeline’s, volunteered at the Dawson Daisy, and was a canvasser for Heart and Stroke Foundation. Florence always believed in giving back to the community and was always cooking and baking for others and putting herself out to help those in need. Florence was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who took great joy in actively supporting her family in all of their endeavours. Her warm and generous nature will be missed by all.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Miss Barbara Ann, Kitchener, ON; Joan Marie (Verne) Lunan, Upper LaHave; grandchildren, Virginia (Michael) Wilhelm, Upper LaHave; Bruce Lunan, Bridgewater; great-grandchildren, Maceio, Sissy, Patrick, Chase, Gryphen, Raven and Caleb and several nieces and nephews.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Bruce; sister, Amy Himmelman; brothers, Paul, Bernard, Lewis.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Florence with her family during visitation from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A service to celebrate Florence’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 in Mount Olivet Lutheran Church, Upper LaHave, Rev. Paul Jensen, officiating. Interment will be in the Lower LaHave Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the South Shore Palliative Care.
