Obituary for Lucille Marguerite Oickle (Nowe)

It is with great sadness that the family of Lucille Marguerite Oickle, 99, of Lunenburg announces her passing on Sunday, July 19, 2015 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg

Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Cecilia (Walters) Nowe.

A faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church, Lunenburg, she supported many of the activities of the church.

Over the years, Lucille worked at National Sea Products for 13 years up until her retirement.

She found great enjoyment in being a member of the Lunenburg Senior’s Club and was also an avid bingo player and was known to play the occasional lottery. In her earlier years she enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with her family during the pursuit of those outdoor activities. Lucille enjoyed family trips to Florida as well as many bus tours, which included Newfoundland and Nashville, where she met and was a family guest for Hank Snow and family at the Grand Old Oprey. Within Lucille, shone a gentle and kind spirit that endeared her to so many and she will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Tannis Oickle, Halifax; grandson, Alec Oickle; Halifax, granddaughter, Leah (Devin Thomas) Oickle; Dartmouth; sister, Helen Whynacht, Lunenburg as well as several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Lucille was pre-deceased by her husband, Ronald, son, Gilbert and sisters Marion, Bernice, Joyce and Pauline.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A funeral service for Lucille will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lunenburg on Wednesday at 3:00 pm, Rev. Richard Pryce, officiating. Interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Zion Lutheran Church, Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choice.
