Obituary for G. Clifford Tanner

G. Clifford Tanner
It is with great sadness that the family of George Clifford Tanner, 88 of Blue Rocks, announces his passing on Friday, September 25, 2015 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Blue Rocks, he was a son of the late Beverly and Sophia (Knickle) Tanner.

Clifford worked all of his working life with National Sea Products, Lunenburg Division and Adams and Knickle retiring in 1989.

He was a faithful member of St. Paul’s United Church, Blue Rocks. Clifford enjoyed the outdoors and found great pleasure in-shore and lobster fishing. His greatest love in life was spending time with family, his home and his fondness for woodworking, especially the building of model boats and the creations he made for family and friends.

Clifford is survived by his wife, Velma; daughter, Valerie (Brian) O’Quinn; Beaverbank; son, Tim (Sylvin), Montreal; brother, Nelson, Lunenburg, grandchildren, Vanessa (Jason Snow) and Geoffrey (Kathy) Sanford; great-grandchildren, Mya, Selina, and Nicholas and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Lottie, Eveline, Edna and two infant sisters, Hattie and Elizabeth, brothers, Richard, Frank, Hilbert, Stanley, Walter, Edwin and Vincent.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Clifford with his family during visitation on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Funeral service to celebrate Clifford’s life will be held Tuesday, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, Blue Rocks. Interment will be in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Clifford’s memory may be made to the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, St. Paul’s United Church, the Lunenburg County VON or to a charity of your choice.
