Obituary for Julia Annette Knickle

Julia Annette Knickle
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Julia Annette “Julie” Knickle, 74, of Second Peninsula, announces her passing on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg on December 7, 1941, she was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Stevens) Dauphinee.

Julie was privileged to have received her elementary education at the Second Peninsula one-room school, attended high school at the Lunenburg Academy and furthered her education at the Bridgewater Commercial School.

A dedicated secretary, Julie spent many happy years working at Zwicker and Company on Lunenburg’s historic waterfront followed by a period of employment by F. Homer Zwicker. She then went on to be Head of the Adult Education Program before being employed with the firm of Burke and MacDonald Barristers and Solicitors, the Lunenburg County Probation Department and eventually the Crown Prosecutors Office in Bridgewater.

Actively involved with her church, St John’s Anglican, Lunenburg, she was a lifelong member and served on the Church Council. She and Watson also attended services at Calvary Temple in Mahone Bay for many years.

Julie and Watson were married in 1969 and shortly after moved to the new home they built nestled in the woods by the shore on the Peninsula. Their much loved daughter, Sheri was born in 1972 and their happiness was complete.

After retiring, she and Watson enjoyed travelling and music and spent many happy days attending Bluegrass Festivals both in Canada and the US and fire hall jam sessions, collecting friends along the way.
Julie enjoyed being on and near the water and spent hours with grandson Jaxson playing on the beach and cheering him on as he played hockey. She loved the natural beauty of the area and had a soft spot for animals.

Her family, extended family and friends will miss her beautiful smile, and her loving presence in our lives and in our community.

Julie is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Watson, Second Peninsula; much loved daughter, Sheri (Tim) McLeod, Oakhill and adored grandson, Jaxson. Also survived by her brother, Arthur (Sarah) Dauphinee, and sister, Rosalie (Darrell) Knickle, all of Second Peninsula; sisters-in-law, Susan (Flavio) Diana and their daughter, Lisa; Carolyn (Sherman Whynacht); much loved nieces and nephews, Donald Gardner (Florence Dahr); Hope (Mark) Demone; Arthur (Sarah Allen) Gardner, and Katie Dauphinee. Great nephews, Matthew and Dylan Demone, Jacob Dahr, Uncle and Aunt Wilfred and Evelyn Stevens, Aunt Mae (Mrs. Randolph) Stevens all of Second Peninsula and many cousins, who thought the world of her.

Julie is now in heaven and can now see again with her family and two beloved dogs.
