Obituary for Janet Marie Zinck

Janet Marie Zinck
It is with deep and profound sadness that we, the family of Janet Marie Zinck, 80 of Pleasantville, announce her sudden passing at home on Tuesday, January 19, 2016.

Born in Kingsburg, Janet was a daughter of the late Capt. Harry and Laura (Mossman) Oxner.

In the early seventies, Janet began her working career in the office for HB Nickerson and Sons (Fisheries Products International) and continued there for 25 years, retiring in 2000.

She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life such as spending quality time with her children and especially her grandchildren. She was an avid knitter, read constantly and always maintained a keen and devoted interest in her community and to her family, displaying a remarkable thoughtfulness for remembering special occasions and helping out in any way she could. Janet was a member of Trinity United Church, Rose Bay and a long standing supporter and treasurer of the Lakeview Cemetery in Kingsburg.

Janet is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Michael) Ritcey, Pleasantville; son, Terry (Sandra), Barrington Passage; grandsons, Terry Brock and Hunter and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Gordon.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where friends are invited to share their memories of Janet with her family during visitation on Thursday, from 7-9 pm and where a service to celebrate Janet’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 pm. Interment at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Kingsburg.

Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations in Janet’s memory may be made to the Lakeview Cemetery, Kingsburg, the I.W.K. Grace Health Centre Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
