Obituary for Bertha Loretta Tanner

It is with great sadness that the family of Bertha Loretta Tanner, 73 of Stonehurst, announces her passing on Friday, June 10, 2016 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Amy (Langille) Tanner.

Bertha enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, caring for her family and spending quality time at home in Stonehurst with her husband, Dana, her children and especially her grandchildren. Over the years she was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, and in her earlier years taught Sunday School.

She is survived by her husband, Dana, daughter, Betty (Lonnie) Grimm, Grimm Settlement; sons, Randy (Nancy) Tanner, Lower Sackville and Kurt Tanner of Stonehurst, grandchildren, Dalton and April; sister, Mildred (Harold) Sawler of Stonehurst.

She was predeceased by a brother in infancy.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service for immediate family will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery or to St. Paul’s United Church.
