Obituary for Emily Darling Rodenhiser (Styles)

It is with great sadness that the family of Emily Darling Rodenhiser, 90, of Dayspring, announces her passing on Friday, July 15th, 2016 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.
 
Born in St. Anthony, N.L., she was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Pilgrim) Styles.                    
 
Mom was a beautiful, compassionate, strong and fun loving lady and known for her great smile. In her early married life, Mom was a busy mother of six and loving wife. She liked to sew and knit and made numerous pairs of socks for her family and friends. Mom loved to cook and her homemade bread was sought after by family and friends. Later on as her family grew up, she worked at the Dawson Memorial Hospital as a caring nurses aide. She was a member of the the Rebekah Lodge for years. For many years Mom loved going to the family cabin with family and friends. Her favourite hobbies were playing cards, reading and travelling. Mom will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
 
Emily is survived by her daughters, Judith (Roy) O’Hearn, Halifax; June (Philip) Stone, West Porters Lake; sons, Robert William (Winnifred), Cornwall; David, Bridgewater, Gary (Donna), Dayspring; sister, Elizabeth (William) Rose, Kentville and brother, Albert (Vicki) Styles, St. John’s, N.L. and daughter-in-law, Sharon Rodenhiser, Fancy Lake. She will also be missed by her twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
 
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert Cecil, son, Philip, sisters, Marie, Phoebe, Mabel, Eleanor and brothers, Ken, Bruce, Jim and George.
 
Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and from where visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday July 20th, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dr. Brian MacArthur officiating. Interment to follow in Dayspring Cemetery, Dayspring.
 
The family would like to thank all the caring staff at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg, as well as Lunenburg County home Care for all their help and support. A special thank you to Gail Dover, Gail Tanner and Gail Veinotte for the individual attention shown to Emily.
 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to ALS of Canada, Dayspring Cemetery or the Bridgewater Baptist Church would be appreciated by the family.
