Obituary for Lois Barbara Morin

Lois Barbara Morin
It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Barbara Morin, 74, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in New York, she was the daughter of the late Irving and Evelyn (Karlin) Golowesky.

Lois started her career in New York’s garment industry where she modeled for several years before heading to Florida to be closer to her parents and continue her career in sales. Lois and her husband, George, came to reside in Lunenburg in 1993, where they operated the Lion’s Inn until 2005, bringing great food and service to so many people.

Lois was inspired by her experience dealing with her husband’s dementia, to create a caregiver support group for families coping with a loved one with Alzheimers. This group provided herself and others the opportunity to share their experiences so they could confront the disease and cope with it. This was accomplished in 2007, when Lois co-founded the Alzheimer/Dementia Education and Discussion Group of Lunenburg County, which is part of the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.

She is survived by her daughter, Mindi Morin (Max Scherff), Washington, D.C. step-sons, Christopher (Leslie) Morin, Ottawa, ON; Tim (Maria) Morin, Ottawa, ON; sister-in-law, Terry Golowesky; brother, Michael Golowesky, FL; grandchildren, Robyn, Abigail, Lucas and Cesare

Besides her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband, George and brother, Neil.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Lois’ life will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 2:00pm. Interment will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
