Arno Poul Petersen
It is with sadness that the family of Arno Poul Petersen, 91, of Lunenburg and formerly of New Minas and Montreal, announces his passing on Friday, September 9, 2016 at the Veteran’s Unit of the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg

Born in Copenhagen; Denmark, he was a son of the late Carl and Inga (Jensen) Petersen.

Arno spent his working life as a silversmith craftsman, and was instrumental in creating many of the trophies used in the NHL, including the Stanley Cup. An accomplishment he was very proud of. He also served overseas during WWII for the Royal Canadian Army.

He is survived by his brother John Poul Petersen;New Minas, Henrik (Sharon) Petersen; Burlington, ON, and his niece Bettina (Darren Stevens) Webb of Oakfield, as well as several nieces and nephews in the Montreal area.

Besides his parents, Arno is predeceased by his brother Ole Poul Petersen.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. In keeping with Arno’s wishes cremation has taken place and there is to be no memorial service.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to a Homeless Veteran’s Centre or your local Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.

The family would like to thank all the staff at the Veteran’s Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital for their kindness and tender care shown to Arno during his time there.
