Obituary for William Bruce Park

William Bruce Park
It is with great sadness that the family of William “Bruce” Park, 54, of Bridgewater, announces his passing on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at home.

Born in Cornerbrook, NL, he was the son of William and Sadie (House) Park.

Bruce came to Nova Scotia at the age of 15 and began fishing on the scallop boats and most recently as cook on the Mersey Venture shrimp vessel. Cooking was one of his passions. You could always find Bruce cooking up a feed for everyone to enjoy. In his younger years he enjoyed trout fishing and deer hunting. Every year Bruce enjoyed travelling south for a much needed break. You could always find him walking around town chatting up a storm with someone and grabbing some Chinese food from his favourite restaurant KO's. He had a heart of gold and would often put people's needs before his own. His children and grandchildren were the apple of his eye

He is survived by his wife, Tanya; daughters, Anikka (Philip Otieno) Park, Dartmouth; Kaylee Park, Bridgewater; step-son, Dakota Parsons (Katie Hingley), New Canada; sisters, Ruth Park; Brampton,ON, Matilda (Darrell Shears) Park; Deer Lake, NL, Gloria Goosney; Alberta, Wanda Park; Brampton,ON, brothers Alan Wayne (Ivy) Park Jeffrey, NL and George Park; Brampton,ON. Bruce was also a grandfather to Omari Otieno and Matthew Parsons. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a memorial service to celebrate Bruce’ life will be held October 28, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. Rev Heather Ferrier officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cardiology Unit of the QEII Health Sciences Center or charity of your choice.
