Obituary for Isaac "Nelson" Tanner

Isaac "Nelson" Tanner
It is with great sadness that the family of Isaac “Nelson” Tanner, 91, of Lunenburg and formerly of Blue Rocks, announces his passing on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Blue Rocks, he was a son of the late Beverly and Sophia (Knickle) Tanner.

Nelson began his working career as a fisherman in his younger years; however he soon began working as a plumber and sheet metal worker with Powers Bros. in Lunenburg. He then went on to work with ABCO Industries; Lunenburg, retiring after several years of service. Nelson was a proud family man and was very proud of his grandchildren, whom he loved greatly.

Dad was a loving, supportive husband and father. He enjoyed fishing with us kids when we were younger. He also enjoyed camping for 27 years. He liked to sing and play guitar whenever he could.

Over the years, he enjoyed making snow forts, riding bikes and going for walks with his grandkids. Alex and Dad even made a go-cart together. They used to like to build things together.

He will be dearly missed by all of us.

Nelson is survived by his daughter, Pamela (Vincent) Tanner, Back Centre; son, Jerome, New Germany; three grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Besides his parents, Nelson was predeceased by his wife, Ina; sons, Brian and Dale; sisters, Edna, Beulah, Elizabeth, Lottie, Hattie; brothers, George, Clifford, Richard, Frank, Hilbert, Stanley, Walter, and Vincent.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg where visitation will take place Sunday, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm and where a funeral service will be held Monday at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia would be appreciated by the family.
