Condolence: Mr.Thoms was a wonderful person and teacher because of his integrity, fair treatment of all, ability to see, support, and encourage the gifts of his students, sense of humour, and passion for the subjects he taught (to mention a few of his qualities). I was fortunate to have been taught by him at NRCS. He was still encouraging me when we met up at the School Reunion. Thank you, Mr. Thoms! Rest in Peace and Rise in Glory.

Condolence: I taught with David for a number of years at Park View and his passion for both his subject matter and his students always gave me something to strive towards in my own classroom. He was a mentor for me in not only my teaching but in my personal life as well. His love of life and the pride and commitment he showed daily for his family and friends, regardless of how he may have physically been feeling, always made me want to try and be a better person myself. His passing reminds me that we all have more to give to those around us.

Condolence: Dave was "ever mindful of the needs of others," and deeply committed to helping young people choose positive life paths. He was full of light--I worked with him at Park View, and saw first-hand how his faith, and love for his wife and family, carried him through one of the toughest physical journeys imaginable. I am glad that he is at peace, but, oh, I know how he will be missed.

Condolence: A passionate educator who made learning fun. As a 1975 graduate of New Ross Consolidated School , I loved "Mr Thoms", but then again what teenage girl didn't have a crush on the new, handsome, young history teacher. He instilled in me my love for history. As coach of the boys basketball team & close in age to those he guided, he formed a close attachment to the team, their girlfriends, their families & the community. I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to learn from someone who so embodied the qualities of excellence in education. Marion & family, I send my heartfelt condolences for your loss. He was an inspiring man.

Condolence: I am so sorry to hear about Dave. When I was a new teacher at Park View, I remember sharing stories with Dave in the Scuttlebutt lounge (aka the staff room) and he helped put me at ease right away. Dave was always one to share a story that would inspire you and leave you smiling and laughing. His quiet strength was contagious. Thoughts to all of his family and friends.
