Born in Bridgewater, she was the only child of the late Dana and Lila (Corkum) Sarty.

Gwen began her nursing career after graduating from the Payzant Memorial Hospital training program in 1961 and shortly after moved to Ontario, where she spent most of her working career in several hospitals. She remained active after her retirement and was a member of the Doris Eaton Rug Hooking Group as well as an active member of Elderfit, Lunenburg.

Gwendolyn is survived by her husband Arnold; daughter, Jacalyn (Mike) Campbell, West LaHave, son, Scott (Maureen), Upper Tantallon; grandchildren, Katherine, Samuel and Matthew.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 a.m. in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater. Rev. Vivian Moores officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Arthur Patterson Centre, Parkinson’s Society of Canada, or South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

The family would like to extend a warm thank you to all the staff of Lunenburg County Homecare, Dr. Heather Johnson, as well as the fourth floor staff of South Shore Regional Hospital. The support and care shown to Gwen and her family will long be remembered.
