Obituary for Doris Marie Knickle (Richards)

Doris Marie   Knickle  (Richards)
It is with great sadness that the family of Doris Marie Knickle, 84, of Kentville and formerly of Blue Rocks, announces her passing on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Orchard Court Nursing Home, Kentville.

Born in Shelburne, she was a daughter of the late Sideon Mervyn and Bessie (Ringer) Richards. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Doris was a member of St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks.

In her earlier years Doris worked as a cashier at the Capitol Theatre followed by a period of time at Stedman’s Store, both of Shelburne.

She is survived by her nephews Walter “Sonny” (Lynne) Tanner of Halifax and Reid Tanner of Dayspring.

Besides her parents, Doris was predeceased by her husband Captain Bernard Knickle, and her sister Dorothy Vaughn Richards.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. A funeral service to celebrate Doris’s life will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 11:00 a. m., at St.Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, the Very Rev. John Wright officiating. Interment will be in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Upper Blue Rocks.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks or the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
