Obituary for Bernice Louise ""Bunny"" Clarke

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of beloved wife and mother, Bernice Louise (Bunny) Clarke.

Born June 13, 1934 in Bridgewater, Bernice passed away suddenly on February 16, 2017 at Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg.

Bunny always loved summer, spending time every summer with her husband, children and grandchildren at South Mountain Park Campground. Bunny had a great love of animals with always one in tow, a passion she passed on to her children.

Bunny started her work life at Bridgewater Laundry and worked for a number of years in the bakery at the Bluenose Lodge. Here is where the best rolls and pies in Lunenburg County were produced. She continued her work life at High Liner Foods. She retired from HighLiner after 20 years of service in the kitchen.

Bernice was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mae Dorey and brother-in-law, Bowman Llewellyn.

Survived by her husband, Donald James of Martins Brook; sister, Joyce Llewellyn; daughters, Debbie (John) Hiltz, Gaile (Bruce) Morris, Pam (Kevin) Grandy and Jane Clarke, grandchildren, Joey (Carrie), Susie (Dave), Shaun (Tiffany), Jason (Lisa), Rick (Christine), Karen (Adam), Katherine (Josh), and Kate (Brandon); great grand-children, Emma, Olivia, Lily, Isabel, Liam, Kyla, Tucker, Nicholas, Piper, Nathan and many nieces and nephews.

Special thanks to the staff at Harbour View Haven for all the kindness and care Bernice received there.

A Gathering to Celebrate the Life of Bernice will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3 Lunenburg. A graveside service will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to the St. John’s Ambulance Therapy Dog Program.
