Obituary for Maisie Isabel Tanner

It is with great sadness that the family of Maisie Isabel Tanner, 98, of Mahone Bay and formerly of Wileville, announces her passing on Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.

Born in Schooner Cove, Stonehurst, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Cora (Whynacht) Knickle.

Maisie was always a hard worker, house cleaning, painting and wallpapering for many families and in earlier years helping her husband on the boat lobstering. Her home was her pride and joy and the source of her greatest happiness when surrounded by her family. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church, Blue Rocks and the last surviving member of her family.

Maisie is survived by her daughters, Agnes Tanner, Stonehurst; Joyce Tanner (Ray Wile), Wileville, Bonnie Ann Milton (Avery Lohnes), Middlewood, Wendy (Joel) Tanner, Stonehurst, Bertha (Wally) McNeil, Upper Branch ; son, Lewis (Shirley) Tanner, Dayspring; 15 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special friend, Paul Barrett, Blockhouse.

She was predeceased by her husband, King, son, Barry Tanner; grandsons, Eugene and Timmy and many brothers and sisters.

A service to celebrate the life of Maisie will be held Friday at 11:00 a. m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, Rev. Lee Simpson, officiating. Interment will be in the Lower Blue Rocks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Lower Blue rocks Cemetery.
