It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Dawn Barnes, 75, of Blue Rocks, announces her passing on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Queens Manor Nursing Home, Liverpool.

Born in Bridgewater, she was the daughter of the late Cecil (Acker) and Marjorie (Stevens) Lohnes.

In her earlier years Barbara worked for various families house cleaning and then went on to work for many years in the cafeteria at National Sea Products, Lunenburg until her retirement in the early 90s.

She enjoyed enjoyed the simple things of life, crocheting, camping and boating with family and friends, a member of the Blue Grass Society and attending and supporting the Northwest Baptist Church. Barbara will be truly missed by her family and especially her grandchildren.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Wendy (Michael) McKinnon, Wileville; son, Brian, Mahone Bay; grandchildren, Adam (Jill) and Sarah (Ryan); great-grandchild, Wyatt; sister, Joan Berg, Bridgewater; brother, Michael Stevens, Conquerall Bank; and half-sister, Susan Hartling, Stellarton and several nieces and nephews. .

She was predeceased by husband, James, son, Peter and step-father, George Stevens.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Barbara with her family during visitation on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Funeral Service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at the Northwest Baptist Church, Northwest, Rev. Richard Moore, officiating. Interment will be in the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society or to Queens Manor, Liverpool.
