Margaret Hazel Lamb (Upham)
Margaret Hazel Lamb, 96, of Lunenburg, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017.
Born in Truro, N.S., on February 6, 1921, Margaret moved to Lunenburg with the family at the age of eleven when her father, George Upham, was transferred to Lunenburg from Truro by the Canadian National Railway.
Prior to her marriage to Everett Lamb in 1946, Margaret worked at Stedman’s store and Eaton’s order office. She was a homemaker and after her children were grown up she was employed as a seamstress for two local ladies wear stores.
Margaret did beautiful handwork including knitting, crocheting, smocking and quilting. Her greatest source of pride was creating one of her projects for her grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly. She also enjoyed gardening, going to church suppers and teas and her Thursday night knitting club.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Everett, parents, Hazel (O’Brien) and George Upham, brother, Aubrey Upham and sister-in-law, Pauline Upham.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Bruce) Conrad of Hebbville; son, Peter (Marie) Lamb of Northwest; grandchildren, Heidi Conrad and Roger Conrad and Adam (Melissa”Mel”Lamb, James (Melissa) Lamb and great-grandchildren, Sophie, Roman, Naomi and Theresa Lamb.
Cremation has taken place. A Service of Celebration will be held Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Corkum officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
Memorial donations may be made to the Dr. Arthur Patterson Unit of Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, the Lunenburg Academy Foundation or a charity of your choice.
