Obituary for Ruth Elizabeth Conrad

Ruth Elizabeth  Conrad
It is with sadness, that after a long and full life, the family of Ruth Elizabeth Conrad, 99, of East LaHave, announces her passing on Friday, April 7, 2017 at Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.

Ruth lived her life along the LaHave River in the family home where she was born on October 31, 1917. She was the daughter of the late Albert William and Nellie Elizabeth (Lohnes) Lohnes.

Over the years, Ruth was a faithful member of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Middle LaHave where she was a member of the church guild and choir. She always enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens and loved the companionship of her friends and pets.

Ruth is survived by her son, Robert (Faye) Conrad; daughter, Elizabeth Fickes; grandchildren, Nicole, Kimberly, Matthew, Colin and Christopher; great-grandchildren, Logan, Victoria Elizabeth, Jameson, Nala and Mason.

She was predeceased by her husband, Walter and a brother, Allan.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where a gathering for family and friends to celebrate Ruth’s life will be held on Wednesday, April 12 from 1-3 p.m. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, East LaHave, The Very Rev. John Wright, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to SHAID Tree Animal Shelter or to the Riverside Cemetery, East LaHave.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of the Lunenburg County Home Support Services and also Dr. Esther Raymond and the staff of Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay for their wonderful and compassionate care of Ruth.
