Obituary for Mervyn James Feener

It is with great sadness that the family of Mervyn James Feener, 77, of Back Centre, announces his sudden passing at home on Sunday, April 23, 2017.

Mervyn was born and raised in Centre with his parents, James and Pauline (Nowe) Feener, along with brothers, Paul and Gary, and sister, Sylvia.

Mervyn started his working career as a teenager at Powers Bros. in Lunenburg and was there until they closed about 20 years later. He went on to Sweeny Fisheries and then to Clearwater until his retirement in 2003. Mervyn spoke highly of his co-workers and friends he met at Clearwater.

In his earlier years, he used to hunt and fish with friends. He enjoyed being outdoors tinkering in the barn, or in the woods for a run on the four-wheeler. He enjoyed music, and played the guitar and the accordion when he was younger, and this love of music continued throughout life. He and Joan loved to dance, whether it was at the Community Centre, or in the kitchen at home. He especially loved spending time with the grandchildren outdoors, at the rink, at the race track, fishing, and summers at the rented cabin on Mush.

Mervyn is survived by wife, Joan; son, Peter (Debbie) Upper Branch, daughters, Shelley Eisenhauer, Rhodes Corner, and Marlene (Evan) Lohnes, First South; brothers, Paul (Susan) Front Centre and Gary (Jane) of Centre; Grandchildren, Chad (Ashley), Cody (Anna), Brandon (Crystal), Lindsey (Ryan), Nicholas; Great-grandchildren, Hope and Zack; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Christopher Eisenhauer.

Funeral Arrangements are under the directions of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. #3, Lunenburg. Memorial service to celebrate Mervyn’s life will be held Friday at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, First South, Rev. Willis Ott, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre.

Flowers from the immediate family only, memorial donations may be made to Grace Lutheran Church, the First South Cemetery or to Sunny Valley Cemetery, Centre.
