Joan Cynthia Eisner (Williams)
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Cynthia Eisner, 76, of Lunenburg, formerly of Bridgewater, announce her sudden passing on April 30, 2017 at her home in Lunenburg.

Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Evelyn (Thompson) Williams.

She was very active in her high school years in social clubs and choir, and played tennis, golf and basketball. She was also a member of the Junior League of Halifax.

Joan graduated from the Victoria General School of Nursing in 1962. After working for a year, she went to Dalhousie University to study teaching. She then returned to the VG School of Nursing where she taught for 22 years. From 1992 to 2012 Joan worked as the Director of Volunteer Services of South Shore Health. After her retirement, she stayed busy with her volunteer work with the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and Lunenburg County Home Support. She also enjoyed being a member of Bluenose Golf Club.

Joan is survived by her stepsons, Mark (Marisa) Eisner and grandchild, Noelle, Bridgewater; Ken (Tina) Eisner and grandchildren, Laura and Cameron, Lunenburg; and her nephews, Sean Williams and Jeffery (Pam) Williams and grand niece, Emily, all of Vancouver, BC. She also leaves behind her two beloved cats, Cicero and Amadeus.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Donald Frederick Eisner and brother, Roger Williams.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg, where a memorial service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held on Friday May 5th at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Dr. Laurence Mawhinney officiating. Interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
