Condolences

Condolence From: Martin MacLennan
Condolence: I am sorry for your loss. I appreciated his warmth of spirit and sense of humour. He seemed always to have a twinkle in his eye and was glad to see you. As a teen, I remember him talking about the process of becoming a concert pianist and becoming a master of the piano and taking charge of it. He certainly embodied that, and it left an impression on me and inspired me in my own musical pursuits. I admired his musical abilities and the enthusiasm, warmth and vigour with which he shared them. I'm sure Jim is using his musical talents right now!

Condolence: Jim, Barb Butler & myself played "Three Pianos' at the Acadia University Winter Carnivals, back in the day-1966,67,68.I still remember Jim as that brilliant, vibrant pianist who did amazing improvisations,& created spellbinding arrangements of familiar songs: secular, religious, movie themes or classical variations. If he had only written them down!He had a quick wit & a robust sense of humour. He will be playing for a new fan base in another, better place. "The song has ended, but the melody lingers on...",Be at peace old friend.

Condolence From: David Sheppard
Condolence: Jimmy was such a mentor for me as a youth when he did musicals at Acadia with Jack Sheriff and I tried my hand at everything. He was part of the reason I joined the Church and I remember fondly when he and I collaborated on writing a Road Show! Many happy visits and meals at the Aulenbach home(s) in Port Williams and Windsor. I regret I had been unable to keep in touch much in recent years, but the love has always been there.

We have known your father for a very long time. Just over a year ago he told me he always checks the Canadian Newsroom, www.mormon.ca, to keep up to date on events happening across Canada. Condolence: Jimmy was a huge part of my years at LHS because of 'glee club'. So many noon hour practices which were a joy. Jimmy's chuckle and his infectious love of music had me always singing with a smile on my face. Many of the songs he taught us are still in my head when I start to sing 40+ years later. Earlier this spring, Jimmy and I spoke on the phone and he was still telling me jokes to pass on to Kevin. The world needs more people like Jimmy. Such an enormous loss.

May You who are the source of mercy shelter them beneath Your wings eternally, and bind their souls among the living, that they may rest in peace. Amen.

Condolence: To Jimmy's family I am so sorry for your grief. Jimmy was a supper person and I had him as a dance instructor at Center Consolidate School and as a friend growing up in Dayspring. Jimmy belonged to BYPU in Dayspring and I remember a Halloween party that he had at his mom's home on Oak Hill Road - it was my first Halloween party and still remember the cold wet skinned grapes, etc that he got us to feel while wearing a blindfold. Lots of fun. I have many happy memories of him. A great loss to your family and the community.

Condolence: What a wonderful musician and dear friend Jim was to all who knew him. He was always willing to accompany you, at the drop of a hat, and rarely needed any music provided. His gardens were also very beautiful. He loved his children and grandchildren and we had good conversations about our families. He always had a joke and a warm and sincere hug. You will be missed so very much, but we are happy that you are no longer in any pain and are reunited with your family. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family. May God bless you all and give you strength to endure. Know that he was much loved and appreciated by all who knew him.

Condolence: So sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Aulenbach. I had him for a music teacher and knew his family well. I remember when I was younger one of his boys were missing and I had seen him and told him where he was so they could find him. ( That was many years ago). Jim sure knew how to tickle the ivories. I am sure he is singing God's praises way up yonder and making a joyful noise.

Condolence: To the family: We have lost a very special person, a friend. He was the best teacher I ever had and loved performing in the school's dramas he conducted. He was a gentleman to his students, never belittling or intimidating them. Mr. Aulenback was "Jimmy" to all who knew and loved him. We all looked out for him whether it was offering him a drive home, ensuring he was okay when he went on outings with the Garden Club, or just reminiscing about of days gone by. Heaven is definitely enjoying his beautiful music. You will be missed Dear Jimmy!

Condolence: I am so sad … I have known Jim all my life, took piano lessons with him when I was eight or nine … for a week … we both knew it wouldn't work out and joked about it years later. Jim always had a joke … and a hug … and a "how is your family doing?' whenever I saw him. He was truly Lunenburg's music man … and now, the music has died… my prayers are with your family Jim … I know God has a special place in heaven for a very, very special man … we will miss you immensely.

Condolence: Oh, my sweet Jimmy. My heart breaks this morning reading the news. How can you ever thank someone for helping you to find your voice? I will never forget the hours spent standing beside your piano bench while you played and I sang. I will hold tight the memories of years worth of Monday night visits and lessons. In the warmer months walking through your garden before I headed home, talking about how precious each different flower was and how special they all were in their own way. You always knew when they were just right to pick and would send me home with a bouquet for mom. I will forever be grateful of your friendship, guidance, gentile nudges along the way. And most of all, the music. I know you are sitting at a piano somewhere, playing something beautiful looking out at the flowers. xo
