It is with great sadness that the family of Bessie May Levy, 91, of Garden Lots, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.

Born in Blandford, NS, she was a daughter of the late Issac and Ella (Hirtle) Publicover.

She was a lifetime member of St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg.

In her earlier years, Bessie worked in Halifax in various shops until she and Nelson settled in Garden Lots where she worked for Highliner Foods. Nelson and Bessie enjoyed a seventy-one-year marriage and were always together and were always there for one another, including their time in Mahone Nursing Home. A quiet person, she enjoyed having family and friends into the home for visits and always enjoyed many card parties.

Bessie is survived by her husband, Nelson, sister, Beulah Publicover of Halifax; nephews, Gary Alinard, Bryan Alinard, Kendall Alinard, Wayne Levy; nieces, Brenda White, Angela Publicover. She will also be missed by her dear friends Jack and Barbara Allen of Garden Lots.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Dorothy Levy, Avis Alinard and brother, Sterling.

A funeral service to celebrate Bessie's life will be held at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy#3 Lunenburg, on Thursday, October 26th, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Alvin Westgate officiating. Interment will be in Garden Lots Cemetery, Garden Lots.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, or the Mahone Nursing Home.
