Obituary for Frank Arthur Walters

Frank Arthur Walters
It is with great sadness that the family of Frank Arthur Walters, 85, of East Lahave, announces his passing on Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in East LaHave, he was the son of the late John and Lillie Mae (Veinot) Walters.

Frank began his career as a deck hand on an oil tanker out of Halifax. He then relocated to the US in 1957 where he worked as a mechanic. He returned to Nova Scotia in the spring of 1962 where he became employed as a bus driver with MacKenzie Bus Lines in Bridgewater and spent the next 32 years there. He owned his own Construction Company “Frank Walters and Son” and also dabbled at recreational fishing on his cape island boat.

He was an avid hunter with his greatest passion of hunting deer. During that time he spent most of his days in the woods from dawn until dusk.

His hobbies were travelling around the Province to gun shows, looking for deals and just seeing what he may find interesting to buy.

For those who knew him, he enjoyed collecting things with the intent that it may be useful someday.

He was a member of the Lunenburg Rod and Gun Club and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rosebay after the closing of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in East Lahave.

Frank is survived by close friend Faye Mossman, Bayport; his sons, Michael (Linda), Branch Lahave, Gary (Tonia), Branch Lahave, Andrew (Mona), East Lahave, sister, Judy (Dom) Macone, Florida, sister-in-law, Joan Walters, Massachusetts, grandchildren, Kim, Patrick, Amanda, Victoria: Shawn and Jonathan, several great-grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his loving wife Grace Evelyn; brother George and sister Beulah, in infancy.

Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a period of visitation will be held on Saturday, October 28th, at 11:00 a.m., until service time at 12:00 p.m. Rev. Rick Pryce officiating, interment to follow at Riverside Cemetery, East Lahave.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the S.H.A.I.D Animal Shelter, Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
