Obituary for Edith "Isabel" Spindler

It is with great sadness that the family of Edith "Isabel" Spindler, 95, of Lunenburg announces her passing on Friday, December 22, 2017 at Harbour View Haven Home For Special Care, Lunenburg.

Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Capt. Emil and Winnie (Arenburg) Olsen.

Over the years she was a member of Central United Church, where for many years she was a member of the UCW of the Church.

In her earlier years she was active in her community where she was a member of the Lunenburg Curling Club and the Lunenburg Yacht Club. Isabel always enjoyed a good game of bridge and spending time at the cottage at Lake Mush-a-Mush.

Above all, family was most important to her. Isabel’s devotion to her husband and children marked her character and supporting them faithfully in all of their endeavors provided her greatest joy.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane, Halifax; son, John (Frances Wolfe) , Dartmouth; grandchildren, Steven (Hillary) and Jillian (Adam); great grandchildren, Reese, Ellie, Levi, Shea.

Isabel was predeceased by her husband, Fred and sister, Olga Sarre.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg, Rev. Grace Caines-Cokum officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbour View Haven, Alzheimer’s Society of N. S. or to a charity of your choice.

The family would like to thank the Staff of Harbour View Haven for their dedication and care given to Isabel over the last 12 years while she was a resident at the home
