Obituary for George Samuel Sheaves

It is with great sadness that the family of George Samuel Sheaves, 85, of Dartmouth and formerly of Lunenburg, announces his passing on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at home.

Born in Port Aux Basques, NL, he was the son of the late Cyril and Myrtle Sheaves.

As a young man, George served with the Royal Canadian Navy during the Korean War and upon his return, began his working career with ABCO Industries, where he remained until his retirement. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #23 Lunenburg.

He was a skillful and avid model boat builder, and enjoyed time out on the water mackerel fishing or simple pleasures like spending time at home with his family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family

George is survived by his wife, Roselia; daughter, Louise (Melba) Blunden, Dartmouth; son, Gregory (Angela), Dartmouth; grandchildren, Christopher, Candice, Kyle, Skylar, Taylor, Stephanie and Kate; great-grandchildren, Caden, Lilly, Soleil and Khloe.

He was predeceased by brother, William, and sister, Diane.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3 Lunenburg, where a service to celebrate George’s life will be held 2:00 Wednesday, January 31, 2018, Rev. Dr. P.A. (Sandy) McDonald, officiating.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Diabetes Canada or Poppy Fund or Royal Canadian Legion Branch #23 Poppy Fund.
