Obituary for Marilyn Brenda Crook

It is with great sadness that the family of Marilyn Brenda Crook, 64 of Maitland, announces her passing on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at Queens General Hospital, Liverpool.

Born in Big Lots, she was the daughter of the late Rodney and Lena (Ernst) Hirtle.

Marilyn worked for over 45 years with Highliner Foods (National Seafoods) Lunenburg where she was Union President with Local CAW 1944 for over 30 years. She was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #23, Lunenburg and a former board member for Harbour House. Marilyn always believed in standing up for her convictions and over the years she ran as a candidate for the NDP Party and was awarded the N. S. Women's Lady of the Year award by the Labour Council.

Marilyn loved music and dancing and looked forward to connecting with people at family gatherings and social functions. She enjoyed her home and the simple pleasures it brought, spending many happy hours with her adored grand-daughters, Amber and Fayth, reading a great book and time spent with her feline companions.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Tracy (Jamie) Knickle, Blue Rocks, grand-daughters, Amber Knickle (Thomas Rafuse) Middlewood and Fayth Knickle, Blue Rocks; sister, Sharon (Emdon) Wade, Maitland and a brother, Vincent, (Linda) Hirtle, Maitland, and nieces, Nicole, Tanya, Mary and Michelle.
