Obituary for Isabelle Marguerite Lohnes

Isabelle Marguerite Lohnes
It is with great sadness that the family of Isabelle Marguerite Lohnes, 94, of Mahone Bay and formerly of Blockhouse announces her passing on Monday, February 5, 2018 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Blockhouse, she was the daughter of the late William A.S. and Effie (Veinot) Ernst.

Isabelle worked for 32 years with Eaton’s in Bridgewater and then went on to work for Statistics Canada for 10 years and later with Suttles & Seawinds, Mahone Bay.

Active within her church of St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, she taught Sunday school and was a faithful member of the church choir and the Anglican Church Women.

Her love of life, family, friends and the community at large were so important to her. Isabelle’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by all those that knew and loved her. She was a golden thread of love, spun invisibly through all our hearts and lives.

Isabelle is survived by son, Kendall (Linda) Lohnes, Blockhouse; brother, Edward (Shirley) Ernst, Wenham, Mass; grand-daughter, Amanda (Corey) Oickle, Maitland; great grandchildren, Mariah and Brady and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lloyd, sister, Myrtle Purdy, brothers, Homer, Fenwick, Harry, Arnold, Wendell, Evan and Henry.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. Memorial Service to celebrate Isabelle’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, February 9, 2018, at St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, Rev. Chad McCharles officiating. Interment will be in the Old Blockhouse Cemetery, Blockhouse.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Mahone Bay, SHAID Tree Animal Shelter, or to a charity of your choice.
