Obituary for Nelson Arnold Levy

It is with great sadness that the family of Nelson Arnold Levy, 94 of Garden Lots, announces his passing on Friday, March 09, 2018 at Mahone Nursing Home, Mahone Bay.

Born in Little Tancook, he was the son of the late Clarence Levy.

Nelson spent his earlier years on the waters as a sword fisherman and then went to work as a janitor at Harbour View Haven Home for Special Care, Lunenburg until his retirement.

He was a faithful member St. John's Anglican Church, Lunenburg.

Nelson and his wife Bessie enjoyed a seventy-one-year marriage until her passing in October of 2017 and were always together and there for one another, including their time they both spent at Mahone Nursing Home. A quiet person, he enjoyed having family and friends into the home for visits and always enjoyed many card parties.

Nelson is survived by sister-in-law, Beulah Publicover, Halifax; nephews-in-law, Gary Alinard, Bryan Alinard, Kendall Alinard, Wayne Levy; nieces-in-law, Brenda White, Angela Publicover. He will also be missed by his dear friends, Jack and Barbara Allen of Garden Lots.

He was predeceased by his wife Bessie.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg from where a service to celebrate Nelson’s life will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., Rev. Alvin Westgate, officiating. Interment will be in Garden Lots Cemetery, Garden Lots.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital or to Mahone Nursing Home.
