Obituary for
Dakota James Parsons
It is with great sorrow that the family of Dakota James Parsons,32, Union Square, announce his sudden passing on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at home.
Born in Lunenburg, he was the son of James (Wendy) Dodge of Bridgewater and Tanya Park (Mike Spidle) of Aylesford.
Dakota was a multi talented man, from his younger years spent skateboarding and snowboarding, to learning several trades as he got older, from his skill as a welder and as a cook (known for his specialty breakfast of homemade waffles with blueberries), to his mechanical skills with cars. He was even able to overcome his fear of the open ocean and gained his sea legs scallop fishing with his father.
Dakota had a genuine warmth and along with his sense of humour was always able to bring people together. He loved all of his family equally, and always left a visit or conversation with “ I love You”.
Dakota was an exceptionally proud and loving father to his children Matthew and Harley as well as his step-children Dakotah and Adrien.
Besides his parents, Dakota is survived by his fiancé, Katie Hingley; son, Matthew; daughter, Harley; step-sons, Dakotah, Adrien; sisters, Anikka (Philip) Otieno, Dartmouth ,Kaylee Park, Dartmouth; half-sister, Brittany, Halifax; step- brother, Jake, Bridgewater; step-sister, Sarah, Corner Brook, NL; grandparents, Myrtle Parsons, Clearland, Cyril and Beverly Weaver, Bridgewater, Max Dodge, Dartmouth; uncle, Billy (Wendy) Dodge, Bridgewater; aunts, Debbie (Peter) Feener, Auburndale, Kelly Dodge, Dartmouth, April Weaver, B.C.; cousin, Chad (Ashley) Feener, Bridgewater and nephew Omari Otieno, Dartmouth.
He was predeceased by his grandfather, Matthew Parsons and step-father, William Bruce Park.
Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg and from where a memorial service for Dakota will be held on Tuesday, March 27 at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Randy Crozsman, officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Matthew and Harley Trust Fund would be appreciated by the family.
