Obituary for Elsie Cole

Elsie Cole
It is with great sadness that the family of Elsie Eileen Cole, 104, of East LaHave, announces her passing on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born in Goldboro, Guysborough County, she was the daughter of the late Capt. James and Ella (Davidson) Schmeisser.

Over the years, Elsie was an active member of St. Bartholomew’s Anglican Church, Middle LaHave where she was a faithful member of the church choir and the ACW. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Elsie enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, spending time at home with family and friends who were so important to her. She enjoyed knitting and was always the happiest digging in the ground. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Elsie is survived by her daughter, LaVerne (Robert) Fielding, Petawawa, ON; sons, Reginald (Delta), North Bay and Arthur (Linda), East LaHave; 18 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, numerous great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald, daughter, Mary Long, son, James; brothers, Reginald, Chester and sisters, Dorothy, Phyllis (Goldie) and Marion, and step-sister, Ruth Conrad.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg where funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., Rev. John Wright, officiating. Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fairview Lawn Cemetery, Halifax.

Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Society.
