Obituary for Russell Hudson Selig

It is with great sadness that the family of Russell Hudson Selig, 73, of Bayport, announces his sudden passing on Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Dean’s Lake, Westfield.

Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of Jessen and Rosetta (Feener) Selig.

Russell began his fishing career at a young age and over the years he long lined, sword fished and scallop fished, until he bought his own boat and went lobster fishing, up until his retirement at age sixty-four.

During his retirement, he loved to enjoy the outdoors, especially deer hunting and trout fishing with Sarah at their cottage at Dean’s Lake

He enjoyed the simple things in life and was a very private person, and although quiet, he was always very proud of his family, especially his sons.

Russell is survived by his wife Sarah; sons, Bernie (Gloria Zwicker), Spectacle Lake, David (Tina Swinimer), Western Shore; brothers, Michael (Ellen), Spectacle Lake, Tony (Kim), Cookville and Jerome (Pam), Blockhouse. Proud grandfather to Anthony, Dartmouth, Adam, St. John’s; great-grandfather to Channal.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy #3, Lunenburg. A graveside committal service will be held on Tuesday April 24, at 2: 00 p.m. in Bayport Cemetery. Rev. Willis Ott officiating.
