Obituary for Jordan Leonard Corkum

Jordan Leonard Corkum, 27, of Tanner’s Settlement passed away Wednesday, June 20th, 2018 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Halifax, he was the son of Mary Ann Corkum and Leonard Clarke.

Jordan “Jord”, “Jordie”, “Jordo”, “Buttercup” attended Bridgewater School and graduated in 2009.

Jordan had a love for life, people, loud music, bright colours and designs, spending time with family, going for drives, camping, and his cats Tyson and Cohen. While he didn’t communicate with words his contagious smile and the glimmer in his eyes told everyone how he was feeling.

He was our lovable, strong, courageous Super Hero whose body failed him during his last battle. During his younger years Jordan spent a great deal of time at the IWK and more recently at South Shore Regional Hospital where he met many doctors, nurses and hospital staff who became extended family. They guided him through his many battles and checked in on him when he was well. Dr. Heather Robertson became Jordan’s primary care doctor and she fought each battle by his side ensuring that Jordan was given every possible chance of recovery. He was surrounded by love and compassion during his often long stays.

He loved his daily visits from “his girls” known as Team Jordan. The CCA and VON nurses not only helped with his care they added to his family. He loved his caregiver Angela Crouse who went out of her way to make his days enjoyable; taking him driving, shopping or just staying at home listening to loud Rock and Roll, flicking through the channels with his beloved remote control or playing a game of blanket toss.

Jordon had a special bond with his bubby, Justin. Like most younger brothers, Jordan’s eyes lit up when Justin walked into a room. The brothers had a love for one another that only they could truly understand. Jordan was happy to share Justin with Cara and was clearly proud when they married and made him an uncle.
Jordan was very lucky to have his stepdad Henry come into his life and love him unconditionally. Henry stepped up and became the Daddy he didn’t have to be. Henry and Jordan had lots of man to man time which Jordan loved.

Jordan had a huge support team but his greatest supporter will always be his mom, Mary Ann. She knew him better and loved him more than anyone else, her everyday started and ended with him. She was dedicated to giving him the highest quality of life possible. She fought endlessly for him to receive the best education and health care. He was her buttercup, her joy.

He is survived by his mother Mary Ann Corkum, stepdad Henry Hirtle, Tanner’s Settlement, brother Justin (Cara) Corkum, niece Brielle, Newcombville, father Leonard Clarke, stepmom Lissa, sister Cassie, Pine Grove, step siblings Jennifer (Brent) Grundner and Christian Hirtle, Hinton, AB and Diana (Jeff) Girvan, nephew Brody, Grandparents Elenor and Robert Berringer (First Peninsula), Emmie Slade (Lunenburg), many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Jordan was predeceased by his Nanny Corkum and Nanny Clarke and Special Cousin Scottie.
