Obituary for Levi Hancock

It is with great sadness to announce the passing of Levi Hancock at Shoreham Village, Chester and formerly of Lunenburg, on July 16, 2018.

Born in Pool’s Cove, Newfoundland, on July 26, 1930, he was the son of the late Murdock and Selina Hancock.

Dad first served on the Cable Ship, the C.S. Lord Kelvin as a cook (as anyone who has tasted his cooking- knew he was a great cook.) For the remainder part of his life, he was a fisherman, avid hunter and enjoyed recreational fishing with friends.

Survived by his loving wife, Dorothea “Dot” Margaret Hancock (Shoreham Village) and 6 children; Sandra (Dale) Knock, Lunenburg; Davilyn (Richard) Knickle, Lunenburg; Levi (Marilyn) Hancock, Newfoundland; Donna Moody, Lockeport; Lana (Vaughn) Dexter, Sable River and Darren (Jackie) Hancock, Lunenburg. He was a loving grandfather to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also leaves behind sisters, Maude (Phillip) Savory, Back Centre; Laura Savory, Bridgewater; and Janie (Wayne) Fraser, Upper LaHave.

He was predeceased by his mother and father and brothers, Charles (Clarissa) Hancock, Lunenburg and Robert (Muriel) Hancock, Lunenburg.

A service and interment will be held at a later date in Newfoundland.

Memorial donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and QE11/IWK Health Centres. The family would like to thank the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital and Shoreham Village for taking care of dad, and to the staff of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home.
