Obituary for Ralph Skinner Strowbridge

It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph Skinner Strowbridge, 73, of Lunenburg announces his passing on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Ralph was born in Belleoram, Newfoundland on August 25, 1944, the son of the late Levi Thomas and Hilda Martha (Skinner) Strowbridge.

Ralph started his working career at an early age delivering groceries by bicycle for Hall’s Grocer and later worked for a few years at the Foodland and then selling insurances. He went on to work with Trans Canada Finance for 25 years and then part- time at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 23, Lunenburg.

Active within his community he was a former President of the Lunenburg Golf Club and a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg. Ralph enjoyed life and he was truly a social being who loved being surrounded by people. An avid sports’ fan who spent hours watching sporting events. He will be truly missed and we have all been blessed to have known such a great man, a real gem.

Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Amy, daughters, Hilda (Stephen) Russell, Spectacle Lake; Angie (Darryl) Payne, Lunenburg and Denise (Chris) Weaver, Timberlea; grandchildren, Marla, Abbey, Alex, Grant, Sarah, David and Erica and great grandchild, Lorcan.

A service to celebrate Ralph’s life will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, Rev. Alvin Westgate, officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, the Poppy Fund of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 23, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg.
