Obituary for Dr. John Murray Sullivan

Dr. John Murray Sullivan
Dr. John Murray Sullivan, of First South, age 62, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Dartmouth, John was the son of Murray and Lailah (Lowe) Sullivan.

John completed his medical education at Dalhousie University and worked briefly in Shubenacadie before settling into practise in Lunenburg. He later moved his office to Bridgewater.

John was a traditionalist, and proud to be a “cradle to grave” doctor.

John was diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2005. He handled his long illness with courage and grace. He took his fashion sense from no one, and those “goofy pants” got him through many medical procedures.

John wished to acknowledge the outstanding medical and nursing care he received through his journey. Drs. Heather Johnson, Magdalena Nestel and Darrell White, lightened his load, and gave him many more years than he expected.

He is survived by his wife, Heather Robertson, and his children, Michael, Alexander, Jenny and Eamonn and a brother, Jim, Dartmouth.

In keeping with John’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral service.

As a memorial to John, please donate blood, and consider registering with OneMatch, the Stem Cell donation service of the Canadian Red Cross.
