Obituary for Robert "Scott" Steele

Robert "Scott" Steele
STEELE, Robert Scott
September 4, 1960 - October 7, 2018

It is with gratitude for a life well lived that the Steele family announces the passing of Scott Steele. Devoted and rambunctious husband of Fiona (Gale) and dedicated, fun loving father of Courtney, Sarah and Simon.

Born in Hay River, NWT, Scott lived in much of Canada with his parents Bob and Mary Steele and his sister Sarah (Zgraggen). He spent his formative years in Ottawa, ON and he maintained many life-long relationships with his Ottawa friends.

He attended Saint FX University and then after marrying Fiona, moved to Nova Scotia to start their life together. Scott most recently worked at Stelia Aerospace as a Level 2 Quality Inspector.

Scott’s keen sense of humour and intelligence made for many fond memories with all, most of which cannot be spoken about in an obituary. (We’ll share those together at the Firehall Reception...)

Scott had a special gift for making every person feel unique and valued. For this he will be fondly remembered and sorely missed.

In recent years, after the passing of his son Simon, he and Fiona dedicated their efforts and passion to raise awareness and funding for the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation which supports children living with and beyond cancer.

In Scott’s memory donations to the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation would be most appreciated at

Scott’s family invites friends and family to join them at St. John’s Anglican Church, Lunenburg, NS on Saturday, October 13th at 11:00 am. A Reception will follow at the Lunenburg Fire Hall on Medway Street. A Celebration is also being planned in Ottawa, ON in November - more details on the Ottawa Celebration will be made available soon.
