Obituary for Gladys "Marjorie" Tanner

It is with great sadness that the family of Gladys “Marjorie” Tanner, 98, of Blue Rocks, announces her passing, on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Shoreham Village Nursing Home, Chester.

Born in Blue Rocks, she was the daughter of the late Glenville and Beulah (Miller) Tanner.

In her earlier years, Marjorie worked in the office of South Shore Sales and later at the Stedman’s Store in Lunenburg. An active member over the years at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, she was a former choir member and member of the Ladies Aid of the church. She enjoyed her time spent with friends at the Bluenose Senior Citizens Club and the Dayspring Senior Citizens Club.

Marjorie is survived by sons, Peter (Shirley Williams), Blue Rocks; Benny (Nancy) Hebb’s Cross; sister, Marilyn Greek, Halifax; three grandchildren, Meggan, Josh and Emily and great-grandchild, Greyson and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence, son, Borden, sisters, Bernice Knickle, Flora Pryde, Joyce Munroe, and brothers, Merrill and Ivan.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Marjorie with her family during visitation on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #. 3, Lunenburg. Funeral Service to celebrate Marjorie‘s life will be held Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at St. Barnabas Anglican Church, Blue Rocks, The Very Rev. John Wright, officiating. Interment will be in Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery, Blue Rocks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Barnabas Anglican Church or the Upper Blue Rocks Cemetery.
