Obituary for Judith Marie Rockwell (Lloyd)

It is with great sadness that the family of Judith Marie (Lloyd) Rockwell, (RRN retired Registered Nurse) 81 of Lunenburg, announces her passing on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Fishermen’s Memorial Hospital, Lunenburg.

Born, August 19, 1937 in Wolfville, she was the daughter of the late Barry and Elsie (Dennison) Lloyd, and predeceased by her parents, brother, Frederick and sisters, Alice and Peggy.

Judy graduated from Kings County Academy in 1955 and still has a yearly reunions with classmates. She graduated as a registered nurse from the Halifax Infirmary, married David Newton Rockwell of Newport Corner in 1961, and transferred from Kentville to Halifax, to Liverpool, to LaHave, to Sydney, to Musquodoboit Valley, to Lunenburg and nursed in local hospitals in each community.

Judy sang in church choirs, taught Sunday School, leader in Explorers and C.G.I.T., volunteered at Hospital Gift Shop, and knit countless baby hats for hospital maternity units. Active within her organizations she was Past Noble Grand of Elmview Rebekah Lodge, Musquodoboit Valley; Past President of UCW, Elderbank, NS; Past President of Lionettes, Mahone Bay; Past President of Hospital Auxiliary of Musquodoboit Valley Memorial Hospital; Past Regent and President of IODE of Lunenburg and Life Member of IODE Nova Scotia.

Judy is survived by her husband, Dave; daughters, Tamara Leigh (Ian) McMullin, Patricia Lynn; grandsons, Matthew and Andrew McMullin; sister, Marion Kathleen Ward of Kentville; sister-in-law, Ruth Lloyd, Kentville; brother-in-law, Ken Lyster, Camrose AB.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg, where a memorial service to celebrate Judy’s life will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.; Marion Mawhinney, officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Hillcrest Cemetery, Lunenburg.
