Obituary for Warren St. Claire Slauenwhite Sr.

Warren  St. Claire  Slauenwhite Sr.
It is with deep sadness that the family of Warren St. Claire Slauenwhite, Sr., MB, 75, of Western Shore and formerly of Lower LaHave, announces his passing on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Lunenburg, he was a son of the late Carmen and Gladys (Rafuse) Slauenwhite.

Warren went to sea for over fifty-five years as a scallop fisherman out of Riverport, as well as with the Department of Transportation, retiring at the age of 71. He was a member of St Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay and an active member of the Norwood Masonic Lodge, # 135, New Ross, the Riverport I.O.O.F Lodge # 106 and the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 44, Chester.

In 1997, Warren was awarded the Medal of Bravery from the Governor General of Canada in recognition of an act of bravery in a hazardous circumstance of which he was very proud.

Warren is survived by his loving wife, Charmaine; son, Warren (Laurie Ann Mosher), Lower LaHave; step-sons, Lester Rafuse (Buddy) and Chad Boutilier; step-daughters, Joanne (Eric) Naugler, Dianne Nowe, MaryAnn Slauenwhite; sisters, Juanita Conrad and Sharon (Frank) Massey, both of Bridgewater; brothers, Kevin (Donna), Vancouver; Carmen (Ann), Hebbville; Vincent (Nancy), Lower LaHave; Bryan (Doreen), Italy Cross and Myles (Brenda) of Riverport; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife, Dorothy; daughter-in-law Madonna Slauenwhite; granddaughter, Laura Slauenwhite and brothers, Lewis, Gary, Malcolm, Wayne and infant brother, Lewis.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg and from where visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay, Rev. Willis Ott, officiating. Interment will be in Lower LaHave Cemetery, Lower LaHave.

Flowers from the immediate family only. Memorial donations made to St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Rose Bay or to the family would be appreciated.
