It is with profound and compounded sadness that the family of Geraldine Margaret Hannams, , 82, of Lunenburg, announces her passing on January 1, 2017, at home, just one day before the passing of her son-in-law, Ricky Joseph Johnson.

Born in Lunenburg, she was a daughter of the late Bertram and Margaret (Conrad) Oxner.

Geraldine worked for many years as a baker at the Lunenburg Save Easy. Active in her community, Geraldine was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #23, Lunenburg and volunteered with Meals on Wheels and supported many events within the town of Lunenburg.

She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church where she belonged to the Anglican Church Women.

Geraldine loved a good game of cards and sewing special creations for loved ones but most important to her were the times spent with her children and their families.

She is survived by her daughters, Corinne Johnson, Lunenburg; Nancy (Jeffrey) DeMont, Gold River; Lynne (Kerry) Oickle, Bridgewater; son, Richard (Janet) Stratford, PEI; sister-in-law, Dorothy Oxner, Liverpool; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and two nephews.

Geraldine was predeceased by her husband, Gerald and her brother, Wayne Oxner.

Funeral Arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral home, 11213, Hwy. # 3, Lunenburg. At Geraldine’s request, there will be no memorial service. Interment will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Geraldine’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
