Obituary for Willis Sherman Ritcey

Willis Sherman  Ritcey
It is with great sadness that the family of Willis Sherman Ritcey, 80, of Bridgewater, announces his passing on Monday, May 21, 2018 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.

Born in Riverport he was a son of the late Otto and Laura (Wamboldt) Ritcey.

Willis began his working career at Atlantic Bridge where he was employed for 25 years before working for FPI where he remained until his retirement.

In his younger years, he loved to play hockey and hunt for deer and will be fondly remembered for how proud he was of his cars and the meticulous care he gave them and for his wonderful sense of humour.

Willis is survived by his wife of 55 years Shirley; brothers-in-law, Alan (Doreen) Skinner, Riverport; Freddie (Stella) Skinner, Lake Echo; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Grant) Nodding, Rose Bay; Sandra Skinner, Bridgewater; Audrey Chapman, First South; Charlotte (Lloyd) Farmer, Rose Bay and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Greg; brothers, Frank, Bruce; sister, Vivian Whynot; step-brother, William Mosher and brothers-in-law, Wallace Skinner and William Chapman.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg and from where a memorial service to celebrate Willis’ life will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 25, 2018, Angela Clifton, officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Brookside Cemetery, Bridgewater.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Bridgewater United Church or a charity of your choice.
