Obituary for David William Thoms

It is with heavy hearts that the family of David William Thoms, age 67 of Mahone Bay, announce his passing the morning of October 22nd 2016 with his loving family at his side.

Born in Greenford, England, he was the son of the late Derrick and Joyce (Felts) Thoms.

Dave was a well-respected and loved educator, having started his career at New Ross Consolidated School and finishing at Parkview Educational Centre. His passion for history brought the subject to life for his students.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife of 44 years, Marion Ann (Keefe) Thoms; sons, Joel David (Ember), Jeff Derek (Andrea), daughter, Sherri Lynn; grandchildren, Mikela, Sequoia, Rheagan and Avery; brothers, Chris (Judy) and Robin (Janet); and Trish Davis from Kent, England, who donated bone marrow to Dave in 1994.

The family would like to thank Dave’s many caring and compassionate healthcare professionals from Vancouver to Halifax to Bridgewater.

Mass of Christian Burial to be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, 123 Pleasant Street, in Bridgewater on Friday, October 28th at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Jim MacDonald, OMI, officiating.

Memorial donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Cancer and/or Kidney Societies through the Dana L. Sweeny Funeral Home, 11213 Hwy #3, Lunenburg Nova Scotia. www.sweenyfuneralhome.ca
