Capt. Plant: A seasoned leader that understood young potential
Recently retired after 37 years in the Canadian Coast Guard this loss of a good man takes me back to 1978 when I stood "on the carpet" before Capt. Plant my future in his hands. Some wanted me gone... others suggested a second chance. I remember the lecture today, and many more I have since handed out on the other side of the carpet as Captain. Hugh was one of the best Directors the CCGC ever saw. He gave me that last chance btw. My sincerest condolences to the family. Capt. Jim Ewart. Gabriola Is. BC
